I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking the kids to scout camp. I want there to be a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.

Brennen Update

So as some of you know, Brennen has been having some problems with his ears lately. I took him in to the specialist on Monday and this is what is going on. He had tubes put in almost 2 years ago. The Dr said they would fall out on their own in 1-3 years. Well, the left tube dislodged, but didn't fall out, so all of the fluid in his ears built up and built up until it basically exploded and burst his eardrum. The eardrum looks like it is healing itself, but we have to go back in 6 weeks to check. The right tube hasn't come out yet, so the Dr wants to go in and surgically remove it so the same thing doesn't happen again. Then if the left eardrum hasn't healed, they will repair that at the same time. Good news is his hearing is just fine, which is a huge relief. Please keep our little boy in your prayers at this time so hopefully the eardrum will heal itself and won't need surgically repaired.

I just threw this cute picture in of Brennen "helping" make Bruce's birthday cake.

  1. Hey Amy, just a thought, Stephanie had tubes but when they didn't come out and were causing her infections they just wrapped her up to hold her still and pulled them out. They never had to put her under. May avoid complications with anesthesia possibilities as well.
