I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking the kids to scout camp. I want there to be a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.

Aubree's Birthday

I can't believe that my girl is nine years old! We had such a fun time celebrating her day! There was no school, so we got to spend the whole day together. She is such a big girl. She even got big girl presents. Mom and Dad gave her her own CD player and all the High School Musical CD's. She didn't want to go to bed last night she was having so much fun listening to her music.

For her party this year, we had a few friends over and had a pajama party. I think it was the funnest birthday party I've ever put on. We made it like a pretend sleepover, so we rolled out the sleeping bags and pillows. We played Truth or Dare. I made a list of questions and dares so it wouldn't get out of hand. they had so much fun, we did most of the dares twice! We had dinner and decorated cupcakes for dessert. Then we had a beauty session and I painted all their nails and put a little make up on them. Then we watched a Barbie movie and ate popcorn. It was fun to see Aubree interact with the other girls and be girlie. She's around her brothers so much and always ends up playing pokemon or Transformers, so it was fun for her to do girlie stuff.

She has told me for a month that she wanted a Hannah Montana cake, and I was at a loss as to how to do it. Then I found someone on the internet who had made a guitar cake for her daughter's Hannah Montana party. But they had a guitar shaped pan. So I kind of just winged it and I have to say, i think it turned out pretty cute! Aubree loved it, so I guess that is what is most important!

  1. Good job on the guitar cake. Looks like you had fun. Kind of makes you feel old when you turn 31 and then realize you have a 9 year old.
