I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking the kids to scout camp. I want there to be a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.

So Roosevelt doesn't do anything for the 4th of July. Pretty lame, I know. We usually go down to Blanding because they know how to put on a party for the 4th, but Bruce's dad was still in Payson, so we didn't want to go if we couldn't even visit Grandpa. So we ended up heading over to Emery County to Grandma Debbie's for the weekend. It was a fun, whirlwind of a weekend. Here are the pics of us doing sparklers on Friday night.

Aubree is still pretty careful about sparklers. Such a little girl!

Brennen had a ball doing sparklers for the very first time. I am just glad he didn't burn anybody.

Kaden and Tyson being the Statue of Liberty with their sparklers.

Saturday the parade was in Huntington. We sat towards the front of the parade, so the kids pulled in quite the haul of candy. They also had fun watching Aunt Rikelle dance with the drill team. On the way over to Huntington, we got behind the band bus and I was telling the kids that I used to be in the Spartan band. Tyson said, "We can say hello to all your friends in the band!" I laughed and told him that none of my friends were in the band. Kaden said "Yeah, they are all old like mom!"

After the parade we had a barbeque at Grandma's house. I always wanted to make on of these flag cakes, so I finally did this year. Of course it's not as pretty as the one in the magazine, but it tasted pretty good anyway.
